Happy Thanksgiving!

I’ve GOT HEAPS of GRATITUDE for YOU!

Writing this love letter to you each month-ish gives me great pleasure. I love the thought of each of you opening it up and savoring or scanning it for one little bit that makes you happy!

Thank you for being here.

May today be absolutely fantastic for you! And if you are surrounded… and need a moment to breathe… this might give you a chuckle or a pause or an little something that you need…

All my love!

Thanksgiving Go To Emotives

Grace

There are many an awkward situation in a gathering of any kind for me. How’s about you? Thanksgivings tend go way and beyond this. Starting with… “What are you doing for Thanksgiving?” And me so wanting to say, “Absolutely nothing. I work my ass off and what I’m grateful for is freaking day off!” Howeverrrr, I say, “Not quite sure. Definitely cooking a feast.”

Laughter

Pretty much everything cracks me up on Thanksgiving. The gorging. The prep. The films (Home for the Holidays!) The fact that I never have the tools (see roasting pan to the right) i need and have to punt. Questions like, “I thought you were vegan?” Responses from me like, “Holidays like this remind me why I am. But, have you tried Tofurkey? I mean like really eaten a bite?”

Love & Gratitude

What I do savor far more than the food are the phone calls I receive, the notes, texts and messages filled with love and gratitude. I mean! A whole day of saying, “I’m thankful for…” is as good as it gets! I have THE BEST conversations whilst I cook with my friends from all over the continent. Lucky! Lucky me!

Celebrate

I am a solitary soul. This we know:). So I find it’s super good to remember to celebrate and appreciate for more than a few seconds before moving on the next task, or book, or plan, or workout, or, or… Today is that ever-generous gift we can all give ourselves, right? A Pause. Doing. The. Pause. All. Day. Long.

What’s Cooking!

This may or may not be the feast that is consumed, but this is the dream!

Turkey!

I’ll be preparing it with oranges this year! I’ll quarter and squeeze them over it and toss some inside. Then add some celery and onion and herbs around it and under the skin. I’ll pour a Dijon, garlic orange vinaigrette over zee top and let it happen!

Parker House Rolls

Two ways… traditional and Hawaiian style with pineapple-honey.

Kale Salad

With maple vinaigrette and crispy fennel chips. I dice up the fennel into half-inch squares (okay, not that perfectly, but small). Then I stir them in olive oil, salt and maple or agave syrup and bake until crispy! So good!

Green Beans

I saute these with Ponzu sauce and a combo of olive and sesame oil. Then toss with fresh garlic and chives for a minute or two and season.

Potatoes

This year, I’m making these Greek Lemon potatoes! I’m using russets instead of yukons because that’s what my Co-Op had in stock! I’m also going to make some Latkes.

Cranberry Sauce

Fresh cranberries cooked with orange juice, zest and sugar. My friends add port to it, but I don’t have any… May ask a neighbor for some!

Yellow Cake with Dark Chocolate Frosting

Because this is the only desert I truly love. And yes, I make it from scratch. Buttermilk and all!

With one last wish of HAPPY THANKSGIVING! And one more, I AM THANKFUL FOR YOU…

I send this off to you with my whole heart!
